Spark Motivation Saturday: Choice Seating! & New Blogover!

Hey friends. I hope you all are having a great Saturday! I just returned from my daughter's first soccer clinic. It was exciting to watch her play her first sport! When I came home and checked my email I found out my blogover was complete and ready to be installed! Yipee! I feel like I just got a new outfit. Robyn and I love the clip art and colored paper because if you haven't noticed by now... pink, polka dots, chevron, glitter, and school supplies are basically our favorite things! Let me know what you think of it! Thanks to Diana at Custom Blog Designs for making us such a beautiful blog and to on Etsy for the PERFECT clip art!

I am excited to link up for Spark Motivation Saturday with Joanne at Head Over Heals for Teaching. I love reading about all the great motivating ideas every Saturday. Today I am going to tell you about select seating. I love incorporating fun chairs into my classroom. I have a giant purple chair that the students literally fight over at "read around the room" time and a zebra bean bag chair. I also have some fun stools I purchased over the summer for a steal...except my 4th graders are getting big and when they rock on them, the legs bend. :( I don't want to take the chairs away from the kids because when they are in them, they are actually reading. The rule is that if you get a fun seat and are not reading, your forfeit your seat. The problem is, these chairs are expensive. My daughter grew out of her "My First Anywhere Chair" so I washed it and brought it in. I figured the kids would use it as a pillow...Nope...they loved it. It was the first chair the students pick when they pick they win the choose your seat for the day coupon from our reward coupons.  By the way, if you don't have these...they work WONDERS!

Here is one of my little gems showing us he can use the anywhere chair ...well...anywhere. haha (This was during Friday's spelling test!

If that's not motivating for him and the other students to try to get that coupon, then I don't know what is!

I'm excited to say, I think I just solved some of the problem. Have you ever used a Facebook Tag Sale Page? My town has one, and I just grabbed these (basically brand new) chairs for $30 from a smoke free/pet free home. Normally, they are super expensive. My kids are going to FREAK out on Monday! Now I am off to plan out how to make room for them in my classroom.

Before I head out for the day, I had to tell you, my BBB is having a birthday and a giveaway! Check it out!

Have a wonderful weekend! :)

  1. Hi there! I found you on your BBB's birthday giveaway post today! I love your blog. I am also loving the chairs in the room. Isn't it funny how they fight over the big chairs? My kiddos do the same thing, and there are only so many in the room to use. I'm going to have to find some other chair options to have in the room. Thanks for sharing!

  4. Hello! I like your new blog design! :-) I do have one suggestion-the font makes it a little hard to read. I love using that font, too, but when your have longer blog posts, I find myself squinting. Just my suggestion! :-) Love your blog and your TPT store! Thanks!

  6. Love your blog design! In my old classroom I had exercise balls that students would earn the chance to sit in with their Class Dojo points.

  7. LOVE the new blog design! It looks fabulous! I have never heard of a Facebook Tag Sale Page, but I'm definitely going to check it out. I have a rocking chair and another chair in my room that my kids pretty much fight over. It's not uncommon to see two of them sitting in a chair at a time...which is fine until I want to sit in it. I wish I had more room to stuff some more in, but we are out of space. :(

  10. Beautiful new blog design!! I brought my old office chair to school to use as my guided reading chair but I never get to sit in it because some student has already snagged it for their silent reading chair. :)
